Choosing Our Life: The Soul’s Plan and the Lessons We Came to Learn

One of the most profound ideas that emerges from QHHT (Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique) is the understanding that we choose our lives before we are born. The people we meet, the relationships we form, the challenges we face, and even the lessons we struggle through are not random accidents, they are part of a greater design, a soul plan crafted with purpose and wisdom.

Dolores Cannon, the founder of QHHT, spent decades exploring the subconscious mind through thousands of hypnosis sessions. What emerged was a consistent message: before we incarnate, we sit with our guides, our Higher Self, and sometimes members of our soul family to plan the experiences we will encounter. These experiences are not punishments but opportunities, ways for the soul to grow, evolve, and expand its understanding of love.

This idea is not unique to Dolores. Other spiritual teachers and thought leaders have echoed the same truth:

  • Dr. Michael Newton, author of Journey of Souls, documented thousands of case studies through life-between-lives hypnosis. His clients described pre-birth planning sessions where they chose their bodies, families, and life circumstances to best support their soul’s development.

  • Brian Weiss, in Many Lives, Many Masters, revealed through regression therapy how souls return to earth again and again, not by chance but with intention, seeking healing and greater awareness.

  • Neale Donald Walsch, author of Conversations with God, reminds us that challenges are gifts we give ourselves so we may remember who we truly are.

What may look like suffering from the human perspective often reveals itself as purposeful growth from the soul’s perspective. A difficult parent may be the soul who agreed to play the role of teacher, helping us learn boundaries, self-love, or forgiveness. A painful breakup may open the door to deeper self-discovery and alignment with one’s true path. Even illness can be understood as a soul’s way of slowing down, releasing karma, or awakening to a higher truth.

When we understand that we chose our lives, something shifts. We move from asking, “Why is this happening to me?” to “What is this teaching me?” We begin to see life not as a series of random events but as a carefully woven curriculum designed for our highest good.

This perspective doesn’t erase pain, but it gives it meaning. It allows us to hold compassion for ourselves and others, knowing we are all playing out roles in a grand design, supporting one another’s growth.

The Higher Self reminds us: You are not a victim of circumstance. You are a creator, a soul who bravely chose this path for the expansion of your being.

When we remember this, life begins to feel less like chaos and more like a sacred journey, one we wrote ourselves, with love.
